Window rubber preservative?

I read somewhere (maybe this list)to wipe generous amounts of cooking
oil on the rubber and let sit for a while. Then wipe off and try again.
after doing this a few times the rubber soaks up some of the oil and
gets softer. I haven't tried it but it sounds good. Shouldn't cost
much to try either.

What can I use to spray or wipe on the door and window rubber to help
preserve it? I am sure that Amour All would hurt more than help. How
about Clear Guard? There must be a penetrating oil or other type of
liquid that could help keep the window rubber from cracking. Thanks
     for your suggestions.
