I'll tell you what #1 you will need to use the stock oilbath aircleaner and make sure you have a 1 1/2 to 2" ID hose hooked up to it going to your carbs and try forcing your carbs to run alittle more leaner but you might have to adjust your timing slightly and another suggestion would be to use the Electronic points because they deliver a hotter spark (So saids hot vw Mag) and i believe this but try these 3 things and let me know what happens. Also make sure you have the olde sckool exaust system on MY TYPE III has the original with a 1/2 " ID hole in the final exaust pipe thingy.
