ok, T-3ers, Try checking your T-3 knowledge against this. 1. This one was sent to me by James, "Do you know if the front windshield for the T3's are all the same for the years 63-66, regardless of squareback/fastback/notchback?" Yes and No. Although there was laminated (Safety Glass) and non laminated, they all exchange within the same year. There IS a difference in size/shape though. In my parts book (suppliment 11) lists up to Part number 311 845 101 F (F means there were 5 versions prior to this one). For '63-66, windshield glass, VW showed up to chassis number 310 2074 068 ('70 model? this number looks a little strange.) with one replacement and after 310 2074 069 with another replacement. 2. On the fender beading subject, how many colors of T-3 beading were there? Would you believe 25? According to ol' suppliment 11, there was 041 black (duh.), 087 pearl white, 282 lotus white, 360 sea blue, 456 ruby red, 469 anthracite, 511 birch green, 512 velvet green, 539 Baltic blue, 563 safari beige, 568 sea sand, 575 nutria brown, 610 Delta green, our favorite 620 savanna beige, 630 coblat blue, 633 VW blue, 650 Granada red, 30 A royal red, 50 B diamond blue, 50 F regatta blue, 60 B Peru green, 66 B deep sea green, 70 F chinchilla (OOOooo.) and 90 C toga white. 3. Fenders, I heard a question about fenders... ok, maybe it was about T-3 front turn signals, but it influenced the fenders too. How many versions of right side PRE '70 model year front fenders were there? 15, yes F I F T E E N. Let's start with the turn signals. First there were bullets starting from '62 through '69, then there were the thin wraparounds introduced in Aug of '63, [the fastback was introduced in Aug '65] The thick wraparounds were not introduced until the '70 model year and lasted until the end. OK, that equals two versions. Then there were the highly coveted side marker lights for the European markets. OK, 2 turn signals x 2 marker versions (with and without). Then keep in mind the "Standard" or non-deluxe versions (bullet turn signals & no chrome strips near the top of the fenders) and the fact that there was a Standard with and without side markers, then the versions after '68 that had the external gas door (did you forget?) and finally the sealed beam headlight and bulb versions. AND YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW T-3'S... Thanks to those who responded. For this points round... Jim had the closest answer for question one "...plain, safety (laminated), sunstripe..." and gets the bronze star worth 5 points. Jim had the best answer for question two also "...19." and gets another bronze star worth 5 points. Todd, on the same question, "One per car. Ha!" get the Banana Cream Pie award and gets 5 points for originality. Graham had the best answer for question three "...there is the bullet with european side flasher, bullet without, ovaloid with/without?" and gets the bronze star worth 5 points. Jim Adney wins this round with 10 Points, Todd and Graham are close behind with 5. Next Round in a few days. Big Al "Trivia Meister" awpresley@earthlink.net
