Jason,
I had this done about one year ago. The beading and the body were done
seperately by a very good painter who is specialised in classic cars.
He knows a lot about different kind of paints and can mix virtually
any colour for old cars to match spot on. Being used to working on
Mercs, BMWs, Porches and other expensive till vveerryy expensive cars,
he found it quite funny that someone would spend that kind of cash on a
VW.
As someone mentioned before on the list, many 'plastic' parts on modern
cars are sprayed using the same flexing agent and the quality of that
seems to depend on the make of the cars. The paint doesn't peel easily
on the edges, however if you bend too much it can come of. When
installing beading you should put them in rather hot water anyway to
make them more flexible, this also prevents the peeling. I had no
problems with them.
I think you have to find a guy with experience in this, who knows what
he's talking about.
Mind you, we are not blessed with a lot of sunshine overhere, so I have
no info on UV resistance !
Cheers,
Theo
