I'm not sure if I have ever tried very tiny short strokes, but I frequently
do rapid pumps when braking on slippery roads--snow, ice, etc. I've never
experienced what you describe, and I don't think it would be considered
anything except a symptom of something wrong in the MC.
Personally, I am completely sold on the long term benefits of silicone brake
fluid. I find that it has almost completely eliminated the hydraulic brake
work that I used to have to do on each of my cars every couple of years. If
you are interested, I will try to write up a FAQ on DoT-5. You should
consider doing this only AFTER you repair any problems that your hydraulic
system has.
