Re: Thermostat

I agree with Jim in this situation as the thermostat is a necessary item in
the big engines, too. My 1641cc (the previous modified engine I had) did
not have the thermostat system installed. Engine warm up took much longer
and cold weather driving performance suffered. Also, since the flaps were
always open (well, not even there) I wouldn't get all of the possible
*heating* air for the cabin during cold times.

On my current engine I made sure my mechanic installed a fresh, fully
functional thermostat system. Cold weather warm-ups take half the time
they used to and I, as well as my engine, are *much* happier with the
system installed. The only time I can thing of where you wouldn't install
the system is if you have a totally blown, lightened, custom drag or track
racing engine.

Install all the stuff correctly! The system has been carefully designed to
open in the case of a failure of the thermostat. In other words, it is
fail-safe. I know of no down side to keeping the thermostat installed.
