Thanks to those who helped me straighten out some of the mess with my Fastback. I replaced all of the fuel lines and saw that there was still a leak from the oil pan... Ah Ha! The oil is leaking! ...Oh no! The thing that had me the most perplexed was that the oil that had been sitting in the car so long had become very thin and it smelled a lot like gas. There is still something I can't figure out. For two days in a row at first I could get the engine running no problem, and then I would shut it off. I could always get it to start and stop a few times, but the time it took to start would grow longer each time until it wouldn't start anymore. What's going on? I've checked the spark plugs, distributor, etc. and there was nothing wrong. I also gave the car an oil change so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I know I'll have to take the engine out and replace the gaskets amoung other things, but I want to get the engine working before I do that. Is this the right approach? I know I'm not much of a mechanic but I've heard that John Muir's book is "for the compleat idot", will it help me to bring this car back to life? Any suggestions overall? Thanks. _____________________ Richard Steinburg Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada wagen@pangea.ca
