Howdy all, Thanks for all the advice on the gland nut problem. Here's what I did. I went ahead and split the case w/o taking off the flex plate. Then I wrapped the crank in a towel and took it to a friend who has an industrial air compressor. I put the crank on a big block of wood with the flex plate hanging over one edge so's not to stress it. Then I stood on the crank while my friend spun the nut off with an air wrench. Zing!!! and it's off. Mind you, my friend's compressor is one of those big 220v 5 foot tall monster jobs. My 3.5hp Crafstman compressor couldn't handle it. Thanks again, Curt
