Hey Chris :) First of all, if your 71 is stock, I'm going to assume it has FI. I'm not sure if an .009 works with FI, that would be something for the FI gurus here to answer. (first thing I to repair FI is put it in a box) However, as a rule of thumb, you set a .009 aprox 10 deg. advanced of stock specs. When I was putting my 009 in, there was a string on here about setting at 27.5@1000rpm and either 31 or 33 @ 3000rpm (I don't remember, I'll have to look through my little T3 list archive) but that's what I did and it runs great. Also, if you've got a Type 1 009 (I haven't been able to find a T3 specific .009) then it is a bit different then the one that you took off. The slot where the distributor meets in the engine puts the rotor 25deg in front of where it was in the stock distributor...just move your plug wires accordingly and that takes care of that. I'll have to go through all the messages I saved and see if I can find the string and if you like I'll send it to you. Hope this helps :) mikey swaffordvw@juno.com wrote: > >I tried setting the timing a 0Deg. at 7.5Deg. at 8 i cant get it > >right? > > > >Any suggestions? Im getting deperate.
