I spent sunday afternoon helping to go through 20 years accumulation
of things that belonged to a friend of mine who died a week ago.
Among his things we found the following manual:
Volkswagen Service Manual
Station Wagon, Delivery Van, Pick Up, Double Cab: 1968-1970
published by Volkswagenwerk AG, 1970
42-00-0, 192-1
This has the same large page format as the Bentley manuals and
apparently preceeded them. Inside it looks like a cross between the
factory workshop manuals and the later Bentleys. Does anyone know if
there was ever a type 3 manual in this series? Would anyone have one
of these they would be willing to sell me?
I also have an early Rabbit manual that looks quite similar, but it
was published in 1974, the same year that Bentley came out with their
Type 3 manual, so VW AG must have published their first Rabbit manual
just before they finalized their deal with Bentley.
