Re: how many cooling tins

JohnJetty=> where do I get these cool tins

They're pretty common -- check your local Bugpack wall. For an idea of
what you're looking for, check (for example) the inside back cover of
the January VW Trends, 4th column, second item down.

BryanCarlson=> I only found one on the left side. Upon reassembly, I
=> left it off. And since my sq is still the immovable object, I don't
=> know what effect it had.

Until you move it, there won't be an effect. But just to overclarify for
everyone, those little bits of tin between the pushhrod tubes and the
cylinders are VERY IMPORTANT to engine cooling, not optional. If they're
missing, stop assembly, get them no matter how hard they are to find,
put them in and thank me when your engine gets past 20,000 miles.

And on another subject:

gravcasey=> who offers affordable auto insurance for these old buckets?

Old care are always cheaper to insure than new cars. That said,
affordable insurance is right up there with the Easter Bunny in the
American mythology. If you find it, tell everyone, especially me.

Steven Ayres, Prescott AZ
