Re: Cool tins - reality check.

First.

Let me dispell the rumor going around that these "cool tins" originally
came with/for T-3 motors.

I personnaly have disasembled many Early and Late Type 3 motors. NEVER
have I seen one originally from the motor.

Second.

They are not only for T-3 motors. I have installed them on my '67 Deluxe
Bus and they fit fine.

Third.

They're great, get a set. I have a VDO head temp guage on the inner top
head bolt for the number 3 piston in the Bus (in Texas) . It lowered my
head temperature from an operating temp around 200º to around 125º
acornding to the guage (your actual temp. may vary, disclaimer, disclaimer,
blah blah...)

This knowledge lead me to put a set on my '63 T-34, but no guage to let you
know the results.

However...

The aftermarket sets that I bought were the "Taiwan" variety. BAD fit.
But nothing a little test fitting and a pair of good pliers didn't fix.
The paint on it is bad, so a can of high heat paint is in order after you
modify. And by the way, FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T GET A CHROME SET!!!!!!! The
heat doesn't help, and you can't see it from the outside anyway!

OK, that's more like $.04US but who's counting...
