Don't panic. There's no reason to back up to square one, but there is probably good reason to carefully retrace your steps looking for something you disturbed. Look for wires put back in the wrong places. Check timing with an inductive timing light (each cyl, if it flashes then there was a spark.) Do you hear each of the usual relay clicks inside the car when you turn the key on? Is the fuel pump running for a second when you turn the key on?
