i WILL get this car back on the road. I will. I just have to keep humming that to myself. For my current dilema check the bottom. For the colorfull narative, stay right here. :) okay, here's where we stand on "Surfer Girl"(As close as I've come t0o a name-she keeps playing Beach Boys whenevr I turn on the radio). problems: rusty old brake line- I was lucky to find an old local VW guy who had the brake line for my square. Total cost, $12.50. Can't complain. Its been raining for 5 days straight- and it looks like a hellish enough job when dry. I'm gonna wait for a good day on this one. Leaky Fuel Stuff- this is the fun one. It started and ran the other day, but leaked gas like a madman. I replaces all the hoses but the injector ones(crimped on one end). Turned on the pump to ceck my work. The left side in jectors leaked horribly, but the right was fine, so i pulled the left out, cleaned them upo, tore off those darn crimped ends, put on new seals, put it all back together, clamped anything down tight, had the little lady turn on the key a few times to build up pressure. No leaks, no problems. great!! NowI can actually hear her run, to lay my hands on her quivering flesh!! To bond with her!! She wont start. I cannot figure it out! I double checked everything I touched. Checked spark. Fine. Checked timing, points. Fine. Checked fuel pump (hint: never remove a hose from the fuel injection loop 5 minuteds after you just tried to start the car. Its hard to get the smell of gas out of ones hair.-dumb, dumb, dumb) . I had taken the battery out to charge it up buy put it right back the next day, good as new. Cleaned connectors, wiggled wires, triend for 2 hours to get her to talk to me, to cough, something. What could I do? I doen't want to tear eveything out and start from square one, but i might have to.... What i touched between the time it was running and now: Charged abttery (out of car) Replaced fuel line removed and replaced oil cleaner/filter to get to injectors replaced inner and outer deals on one pair of injectors pulled back front carpet to expose brake fuild.
