Lee.. Once you said "all original" I knew the problem. The underrated ignition switches had a hard time carrying the 35 amp solenoid current in a 12V car never mind the 70A needed in a 6V car. your ignition switch has had the contacts burn up. You can try rebuilding it but its probably toast by now, yea I know, there unavailable! If you can rebuild or even find new use a headlight relay or relay rated for 70A to take the current and only use the switch contacts for the low current items. this way it will look and operate like stock and everyone who still has a working switch do this now, save those switches!
