I had to do this on our '71 as well as helping Stuart Neil do his.  It took 
about 1 hour to extract the oil cooler.  Not hard work, just piece by piece.  If 
I remember correctly, these pieces had to be removed to get access to the 
cooler:

(disconnect battery first)
generator
coil
dist(?)
disconnect fuel line to 3/4
intake runners and f/i parts from 3/4
engine tin (only 1 bolt required crawling under the car)
The little bolt/screws for the tin could consume most of your time if they are 
stuck in place.

Not a bad job, just tedious.
