So this 54K engine lacked the warmup flaps??? It seems unlikely that
an engine with 54K would have been rebuilt already! I think the 69s
speedo rolls over above 99,999 miles. Is it possible that the car
actually had 154k? Or just spent a lot of time with a nonfunctioning
odometer.
Not that it matters. If it is rust free, everything else can be
fixed. And 2k is not bad for a really good rebuild. I would ask to
keep the old heads as they might be useful someday, and the only
thing that I could add to the rebuild is a counterweighted crank,
which is probably somewhat pointless in an AT.
