genarator -Reply

I had the same problem with my old fastback. I found it was cheaper and
much more comforting to find your local electric motor and generator
service- they rebuilt the whole thing for 30 dollars with new brushes and
communtator and bearings.... To an Auto Parts store, a VW generator is
a freak of nature, but to a generator shop its just another generator with
its own crazy specs......Try looking under motor repair or something in the
phone book.

My genarator died yesterday, now I have a delema. Should I get a used
one
for $30 or buy a rebilt one for $120. There is also the convertion to an
alternator. Help. :-(

I there a way of judging the condition of a genaraton with out actualy
having it in the car. Also is there some kind of a trick for removing or
instaling the belt.
