As some of you may remember, a few weeks back I lowered the front end of my '73 Square, due to the fact that it has always been too high. (The gap between the top of the front tires and the bottom of the fenders was a good 3-4 inches. It looked ridiculous.) Anyway, with step-by-step help, I managed to lower the car. What I thought would take 5 hours turned into a 15 hour job. (Impatience, inexperience, and not having the right tools...) Then the car was TOO LOW. Since I couldn't get back in there and fix it for a couple of weeks, I just about about ground off the front tow hook, not to mention some rubber from the front tires. Anyway, I finally got back in there and fixed it. The car is perfect now-just right. I also added a heavy duty anti-sway bar from So. Cal Imports. Most of the install went easily. But you have to drill a couple of small holes into the two channels that run the length of the underbody. It was difficult/impossible with my Crafsman cordless drill, and I had to eventually borrow a heavy-duty 1/2" drill from the motorcycle shop that I work at part-time. Whew! Handling is definitely improved, but these skinny little tires just squeal all to hell! Next will come EMPI style rims and wider tires. Thanks to all who offered help and confidence with the front end work. Just starting is 1/2 the battle. If anyone wants to know more about the front end (Esp. the aftermarket anti-sway bar) just email me) -Mark Mark Garcia '73 Squareback '78 R80/7 BMW 78 P200E Vespa 81 P200E Vespa (I like airheads!)
