Speakers UNDER the seat will give pretty lousy response. I have two 6"x9" speakers in the back, each in its own little box. I use the seat belts to hold them to the seat. Wiring runs under all the carpeting and under the seat. Since she's a daily driver this allows my to move the speakers to the cargo area if I need to lift the seat for more room. I also used bullet-connectors to connect the wiring to the speakers as this allows me to easily remove the speakers. Author: type-3-errors@umich.edu at SMTPGATE Date: 4/20/97 4:33 AM Well gang, I'm going to have to do it...I'm putting a stereo in my car. I know, I know, it really detracts from the whole vintage look..but I don't know how many more dimwitted AM talk radio shows I can stand. I'm spending a fortune on batteries for my portable and I already have a auto CD player...I'm just delaying the inevitable... Anyway, here's my question: I want to put the speakers under the back seat. There's no way I'm cutting into that car. I can't think of any problems involved in this: nobody ever sits in the back anyway. I just thought I'd run it by you "experts", see if there's some reason I shouldn't do it that I'm not thinking of. For some reason I feel a little nervous putting that big magnet next to the battery, but I don't even know if that's a warrented concern... Thanks for any input!
