Hi, I've been holding off on writing to the list 'cuz of an overflow of schoolwork (I'm a university student), but felt that tonight was a good night to make an introduction. I *just* bought a '72 squareback: good, rust-free body, bought from 1st owner (basically -- there was a previous owner, but they only owned it for 6 months, got a promotion, and no longer felt a VW high class enough for him, so Fred, the last owner, got it), strong engine (but will need a rebuild within the year, last one was in '82, I believe), and (here's the doozy) COMPLETELY shot brakes. This means that I get the fun of a complete brake job. This means that, over the next few months (I'm not starting the project for about a month) you'll be hearing a LOT from me. I'm a pretty lightweight female, but cannot justify giving anyone else money to work on a VW (ESPECIALLY not the brakes!!!) 'cuz, in theory, it's pretty damn easy, and I can do it myself (she thinks). I honestly have no idea how I'm going to pry off bolts which have been sitting there for a good 25 years, but I'll figure that out as I go along. ;) I could gain a few pounds, start lifting weights... :'p Anyway, I *adore* my type III, and can't wait to start playing with it. I'm hoping to eventually do a complete resto, changing it to a right-hand drive (I'm moving to England in 2 years) and putting on '60's style rear wings (love those tail-lights!!!) AND eventually doing one of those full-body sunroofs. Right now she's pumpkin orange, but will eventually be yellow and white, I believe... Ahhh, to dream... I *have* to think about the fun stuff to come, or else the grunt work won't seem worth it! You all *must* understand... ;) Can't wait to join in the fun... -Khadijah Britton ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< The End.
