Why are there so many '70-'73 Type III's on the road? Fewer actual miles, along with larger production numbers, maybe. Lots of Type III's in S Florida, I can think of more than a few Notches, lots of Squares, and Fastbacks, mostly late model, (or late-early model as it were) But it's like any other model car, the older they get, the fewer there are. Personally, I like the late models- IRS, 12 volts, discs, and what not. The larger taillights is a plus. My '73 Notch had no safety features at all, still doesn't. No safety glass, no seat belts (I added front 3-points) no door beams, nothing. But that's the price to pay for rarity on the road. I just have to be careful that I drive a little more cautiously than the guy next to me, that's all. After this notch is gone, I don't think there are any '73's left at all.
