After, "officially", buying my Squareback last week, I took all of the registration paperwork into the road inspection office to get everything transfered over to my name. After looking a little closer, I noticed that my Square's VIN starts with 367 ... So we checked some old VW identification records that my shop bought when a VW dealership went under. Strangely enough, we discovered that the "3" is for T3 (not so wierd), the "6" for having a sunroof (very wierd) and the "7" denoting that the steering wheel is on the left hand side of the car - which it was when I left for school this morning. It got wierd with the 6. I have factory pop-out side windows, but no sunroof. I wish that I did: perhaps I should drop by the local VAG and demand the mising sunroof be installed retroactively ... Anyway, we checked with another Squareback owner (same year model) and his car had the same 367 VIN, a sunroof but no pop-out windows! I will have to re-check the M codes, but maybe these were inter-changable or considered the same. I have heard that many owners opted not for pop-outs when they bought T3's new, but for the full sunroof option instead for, "extra cooling". How funny. I suppose I will know the whole truth once the paperwork comes back from VAG in Wolfsburg. Patrick
