The availability of magazines tends to be a vicious circle: people don't ask for them, stores don't carry them, so people don't know about them and don't ask for them. Here in Vancouver we can get VW Motoring, Volksworld (both U.K.) and Super VW (France) at all decent magazine stores. I subscribe to Super VW, which costs about the same as buying it over the counter (FF475 last year), but it comes by airmail, so I get it a month before the stores do. It's also great fun at the bank getting bank drafts in French Francs - they *always* have to look up how to do it. :-) I have a few issues of VW Scene International that I've bought on trips to Germany. I also have a special French issue they did a while back. I can't get VW Scene International locally, but can (and sometimes do) buy Gute Fahrt and Auto, Motor und Sport. My German is just short of causing an international incident, but I work with customers in France and Quebec. Besides, German companies rarely take credit cards. :-( If you want the magazines, demand them. If your local supplier can't or won't get them for you, why not check the soc.culture.whatever FAQs for magazine stores that might be able to help you?
