hi john the switch under the dash is for an accessorey like fog lamps, check behind your front bumper and see if you have a bracket or some sort of wiring that goes to the front of the vw. dan, those door seals have been on the type-3 cant afford list for years. i sell w.d. for wcm and know exactly what your talking about since i am restoring a 66 square and the guy who was doing the body work said " vw seals are cheap" and tossed every one into ze dumpster and called and told me i need all new seals. all seals were only less than 2 years old. talk about pissed off!! and the bad part is some seals are just no where to be found like door lock seals and rear wrap around reflector seals and misc. other fun to find stuff. not all vws are created equal. so be forwarned that if you take your car in let that person know that if the seal is bad o.k.replace it but dont just yank it off and toss it out if any body needs anything from wcm i am a w.d. and do give 10% off all vw parts purchase over $100.00. hell thats any one seal on a t-3. good luck with yours and if you find a german part for a good price just buy it. that good stuff is getting harder and harder to find. street bugs strtbug@ibm.net jonce 66 square 66 bug 56 single 86 vanagon 92 jetta
