The easier way to adjust the generator belt is simply remove the generator, remove the pulley nut and add or remove the shims. Put the pulley and nut back on, slip the pulley end of the generator through the shroud and put the belt over the pulley. Then push the generator down into place and bolt it in again. This process is *much* easier than trying to put the belt, pulley, shims and nut back on inside the shroud... Having said that, I do have a 4 inch magnet on a 2 foot string sitting in my tool box from when I had to fish the nut out from the bottom of the shroud a few times!
