The only disadvantage of that RTV is that during vulcanization, and long thereafter, it releases formic acid. That's the acidic smell you get. I once glued together a large (9x5x3 feet) paludarium (a mix between an aquarium and terrarium, hope I spelled the words correct) and even after a week your breath was taken away when you stuck your head inside. Mind you, I used about five of these tubes. The acid can cause severe corrosion on metal and oxidise paint. There is a good side to this story, they now have silicone sealant that doesn't produce this acid. Overhere it's marketed especially for sealing bathroom stuff like tubs. Cheers, Theo
