	As I understand it some older synthetic crankcase oils did not
transfer heat, just like Keith described.  Evidently, virtually all of the
current big-name varieties do have sufficient heat transfer properties. 
Whoever's interested might inquire on the vintagvw list; I believe that
several folks there have experience with synthetics in the crankcase. 

	I don't have experience w/ synthetic crankcase oils, but I'm
absolutely loving the performance of Redline MTL in my tranny.  If
anybody wants info from them, you can get a free catalog from...
