Re: Adj spring plates?

First, there are no stupid questions!

Second, the adjustable spring plate (ASP) can be used to fine tune the rear
height of the vehicle. You will notice that the ASP is used primarily in
off-road vehicles. My second mechanic (the first one doesn't do T3 lowering)
said that I can lower the rear of the vehicle about 2" using the ASP alone, thus
I could replace my stock plates with the ASPs in the stock position then turn
the screw to lower the rear. Since I want the rear permanently lowered to match
the front I will have my mechanic rotate the plates accordingly (during
installation) then use the adjusting screw to fine tune the final height. This
will also allow me some leeway should I make other changes, like final shock
height (air pressure), tire size/air pressure, etc. Also, the ASP is much
easier to adjust than conventional means (removing/reinstalling the plate).

I want the ability to change things to what I prefer and rear ride height is
something I can have control of (for me the front isn't as critical). The rear
of my car won't have to suffer quite as many constrictions/limitations normally
associated with a lowered ride height.

There are several ways to adjust the rear height of the T3 -- rotating the stock
spring plates, ASPs, air-adjustable shocks, tire/rim, and combinations thereof.
I'm doing a little bit of it all :p

Toby (or anyone else),

Maybe this is a stupid question...

What is the benefit to adjustable spring plates in an already adjustable
rear end with IRS? I kinda understand how they work, to help a
swingaxle keep its camber (or is it caster)[wheels straight up]
aligned. If the IRS (double jointed axles) keeps the wheels straight
why do you need adjustable spring plates?
