A couple of miscellaneous points about putting my engine back together:
- I understand there is supposed to be a spring under the distributor.
Yesterday I discovered that mine is missing. Is this a type 1 part?
- FI spark plug tin DOES fit dual carb engines, as shown by this pic:

Assuming I've put it on right, the only limitation is that it won't go in
when the manifold is tight,. so put the manifold on loose, put the tin in
and start the screws, tighten the manifold, and then tighten the tin.

Jim, your upper tin looks great. Once again, if there's anything wrong, I
would like to know about it.
- You've completely lost me on the bottom tin. Mine is there, but a bit
molested, and I am not sure how it was originally attached. I know it screws
to the upper tin, and to the heat exchangers, but where does it clip to the
head studs?
