[T3] Rear hatch won't close

My rear hatch door on my 69 Squareback was opening and closing just fine 
until yesterday.  It seems like the driver side hinge gets locked into place 
when I open the hatch.  In order to close it I have to get a screwdriver and 
help the hinge-arm unlock.  But what I have been doing is putting a small 
piece of wood in there so the door does not extend all the way up and that 
way I prevent it from locking in place.

Any advice on how to go about fixing this annoying problem?  Any suggestions 
are appreciated!
