Good looking Fastback! I do love the black trim. One of the guys that went
to my high school had a Blood-red 74 Type 1 with gold 8-spokes and all the
trim and t-bumpers blacked out, windows black as a tar kettle!. My first VW
love affair, and why I have the VW sickness now!!!
Yes I think some the FI beetles around 75 came with the chrome blacked out.
Who knows if they had made Type 3s 2 or 3 years longer than what they did
this may have been a look they would had come with. If you look at some of
the earlier you tube videos I have on my channel you will see it didn't look
so good. I've said it many times before I could write a book on this car
since my parents bought it new just before I turned 6. Dad had a 70 beetle
before that and I have own several VWs including another T-3 (69 fastback
automatic wish I still had that one) so I had the sickness most of my life.
