Carefully clean off the sealing face on the head. Clean the mating
surface of the cover as well.
Use good gaskets that fill out to the full size of the valve cover.
Then put a dab of gasket cement in each corner as well as at the
center of each long side.
If leaks persist, you may want to look around for thicker gaskets,
but persistent leaks are often caused by valve cover bails which have
been stretched and are not tight enough. They usually get stretched
if someone trys to pry them down instead of up, to remove the valve
cover.
If they are stretched, they can be bent back with some difficulty, or
just replaced.
