RE: [T3] Proper Storage
Guys; why don't you try to wrap that soap with some metallic bug screen? I
just read (from Keith) about Iowa mice but I think it's worth a try. Now,
how about some 1/4" screen with the rest of the ideas, you know, the dry cow
blood and stuff? I don't know, just a thought. I'm beginning to think this
is a conspiracy and none of this winter storage thing is a big joke. I
never stored anything for winter and down here all I have to watch out for
is the gas tank and some of the other tips I just learned from this thread.
Dried cow blood, Irish spring? Oh my God!

Ive traditionally used moth balls, but they stay with you longer than I
desire. Of course if the soap becomes Soaper for them mid winter, I have a
problem... I cant get out there till spring. IVe got dryer sheets in there
too.

;-) That must have been a sight, (not the freezing to death part but the
rest).

Just to let you know once the smell of the soap is gone, or lessened the
mice will actually EAT the soap, (and it didn't take long, like maybe a
month or two, it sure didn't last the whole winter), so be warned. And
those ultrasonic pest chasers don't work, and those live traps just aren't
up to the task, either. Well anyway at least those methods weren't
effective on the mice here. I hated to do it, but I had to resort to the
neck, (and if you are not careful finger) snapping death traps ;-(
Hopefully YMMV.
