There are 2 plates on top of the AAR. If you remove the upper one and 
then put the fixing bolts back, you can see the little pin that 
limits the motion. Once you can see that, you don't even have to blow 
thru it, because you can see when it reaches its stop. Just note the 
temp when it JUST gets to the closed end of its motion. Heating it 
more will wind the spring tighter, but the pin won't let it move any 
farther.

I had trouble finding the temp points for the AAR, but they are in 
the Elfrink manual. He lists them as: fully open at -22F and fully 
closed at 122F, so Phil's numbers are right on.

Once you're done, you can put the upper plate back on.
