5MPH bumpers came out in the US in 74, they never got on our cars, but it IS
how you tell 73 beetles from 74's.  They were shock mounted bumpers.

The  bumpers on our late cars are 2.5MPH at BEST... trust me, Ive ACCI DENT
LY tested that!
