font-family:Arial'>I need to clean & repack the rear wheel bearings in my
SQB with double-joint rear suspension. The procedure in the VW workshop manual
involves removing the complete diagonal arm and pressing the bearings out on a
bench press – which I don’t have. I was wondering whether there
might be an alternative method of removing and re-installing the bearings
– say, using a bearing puller, perhaps even with the diagonal arm still
in position. A friend suggested tapping them out using a hammer and brass rod
but I’m not so keen on hammering away at any bearing.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

joints? I can’t find any info on this in <span class=SpellE>VW’s</span>
literature. My boots are all intact but I’m guessing that <span
class=GramE>its</span> been a good 10 to 12 years since those joints were last
serviced.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
