Wouldn't it be great  if some enterprising machinist could modifiy the rear 
latch on the hatch to let one open the hatch from the inside.

It's almost 7' of space...about 6'10" or 6'11" to stretch out.  Me and my
girlfriend can sleep in the back.  I would recommend putting a dense or 
thick
cushion underneath as the non-padded parts (e.g. back side of back seat) are
rather hard.  Getting in and out of the car is a squeeze through the front
doors.  You could enter the car through the rear hatch but once closed you'd
then need to go out the front doors.  I'm not that big so it's not much of a
problem and I always can slide my rag top back and exit via the roof if need 
be
