<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Thanks. It is probably important to mention that the engine in my car is
not the original and until now I still have nto had the chance to completely
figure out what it is that is in there now. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The engine number mentioned on my car registration is 01158736, which may
be a 1500cc<BR>54 hp?? While I know this number is not the number of the engine
that came with the car originally (which was a 1600), I have not checked whether
this is in fact the number of the engine currently in the car. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Does it make any difference for the distributor I want? Should I check
first the engine number? And if I have the actual engine number, do I know
enough or is there more to check in order to determine the correct distributor?
</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks</DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Yesterday my 67 squareback was not running properly, particularly when
accelerating or climbing (e.g. <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">
throttle</SPAN> down), with occasional backfiring. I went to my usual
repair shop where they tried for about an hour to adjust the distributor after
which they gave up and replaced the distributor with a 2nd hand temporary
replacement from the shop, after which the engine ran much better and the
problem seems to have disappeared. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>They now asked me to order a new distributor in order to replace the
temporary part they put in. The part that came out my car is a vacuum
advance Bosch distributor number 0 231 137 009, which according to a website I
found corresponds with VW part # 113-905-205K (stock for my car?). They
recommended me to replace it with distributor part number 0 291 178 009, which
has a mechanical advance. Does this make sense to you? And if so, where you
recommend I order this part? I found some online at: </DIV>
