I believe most of the parts that you mentioned as being in common

Those cars

The last 3 years of 914s replaced the 1.7 with a 1.8, which was L-
Jetronic, so
that was still a 914/4, but not a D-Jet and with no significant
parts in common
with us. (I think the injector seals are the same.)
The 1.8 was only used in 1974 and 1975, not for the (short) 1976 model
year. The 1976 model year was odd because apparently it only "existed"
in the US market, the whole production from 8/75 until the end of the
(calendar) year was shipped to the US, and at that point production
ceased. The '76 914 only came with the 2.0 liter, but there are
persisten unproven rumors about a couple of 1976 1.8s.
The 2.0 was the result of added Porsche engineering, and many FI parts
carry different numbers than their 1.7 counterparts. Any VW parts
numbers that start with "039" were devised for those 2.0 engines, as
opposed to 021/022 for the 1.7 and 1.8, or 311 for the 1500/1600.
