This guy Randy ? in colo springs. turned the engine over until almost at TDC for the cylinder in question...#3. Filled the cylinder with some shaving creme. tapped to the insert size. screwed the insert in and then drove the pin down the side to hold it in place. turned motor over and blew out the shaving's along with shaving creme...FWIW it was not a Heli-coil per se. but a thread insert repair kit. its a full sleve that threads in, instead of the regular helicoil style. It was my motor I had bought from their junk yard with a 30 day warranty. quick and painless and lasted as long as I owned that car...several years.</div>

<div>Has anyone ever installed a spark plug heli-coil without removing the engine? It is the number 2 cylinder. The previous owner had stripped it out and could not figure out why the car traveled 100 miles or so and would then spit it out. There is less than 500 miles on the engine and I was just thinking...repair the plug and try to start it. Who knows? It looks like one might as well pull the engine if I need to remove the head. The Monsoons and 98 degree days have been putting the brakes on that idea.</div>
