thanks steve mike and jim for the tips. i will dig a little deeper and pray for good rod bearings. so far all the valvetrain and head nuts look OK, and all the valves look like they do their thing properly as the engine is turned over by hand. i guess if the rod bearing is it, its up for a full rebuild? if so, is there anything else that is a must do while the engine is out? cheers boys, scott from oz.
