I've made the same mistake. In my case, I was able to put the mounts 
back where they came from by just looking at the dirt and scratches 
on the parts.

I don't think the centering is critical. A couple of mm shouldn't 
make any difference. If you're really concerned, I think you can just 
center it up afterwards, measuring from the inside of each brake 
backing plate to the midline of the transmission.
