<x-flowed>I found a "J5" sticker on my just expired battery, I think it's the date
code January '95. That makes it 12 years old. Except for a month here
and there, the car is driven regularly year round. Maybe once or twice
left the lights on and killed it. Keith, it was a Sears DieHard, aptly
named!
I haven't puttered around the motor for awhile, it was overdue. I
thought I'd smelled gas last week, and sure enough found a leaking
line. I also found the reason for the sputtering at idle, a clogged
idle jet (again). I Helicoil'ed the fan shroud for the stripped
generator strap. I shortened the choke wire to eliminate the electrical
tape that was covering the part that shorted out and melted when the
coil bracket broke and the coil fell off (last year). I'm a little
overdue on oil and valve adjustment, maybe next weekend.
