I was suggested to post items for sale on the List, and I was going to do
this seeing how fast they go. Then one posted not to do this, and put it on
the Samba or the List's website. Well, almost no one looks at the List's
site, and I have tried the Samba for over a quarter. I was going to go to
the Classic, but plans were canceled by another. If the parts are not sold,
then I can no longer be a custodian of Type 3's. I can not last until I am
desirable for hiring. I am not one to make excuses, and I hope I am not
now.
The reason for the dilemma is to save a '69 Fastback from the crusher, I had
to trade it for less then I paid for (over $900 lost). Thus, the parts I am
trying to sell (some parts were received for the '69 before the trade).
Based on the ability to sell these parts, and that the '71 was below market,
I bought the Sunroof Squareback. This auto was going to be sold into a
situation were it might not have survived. As previously stated, it has
329,000 miles, but some how managed to stay mostly original, including the
paint. The only unoriginal features are it no longer has the door buzzer, is
push button start, has a radio, and had a sump added. The P.O. bought it
from the first owners with 20,000 miles in September 31, 1971 (Or was it
1970? :/ ). I hate to sell it, since I grew up with it, and I like being a
custodian, but I have to get to College.
To further a cause, sometimes likes or rules have to be broken. This
applies to this electronic letter; the sale of the parts is not for my
betterment, but for the Type 3's. Mr. Adney or Mr. Wolfe, if you want to
help suggesting a fairer price, that would be much appreciated. I am only
going on what I have seen or heard, but pales with your experience(s).
Prices have gotten me a no sale, and would like not to be repeated. I am
going to list everything as to save something. If you see something of
interest, please send me an electronic letter, and I can send pictures. I
am putting suggested prices, but we can discuss if too high. The list is as
