I drilled apart a cam and gear once, and got the gear counterbored 
for bolts, but I ended up never using it. I think the gears DO wear, 
as I'm gradually using up all my larger gears and finding that the 
one that came with the case is no longer the ideal fit. OTOH, it 
really doesn't seem to matter too much, as long as it's not tight.

I keep hoping that I'll run into a case that needs a small gear, but 
I've not found one yet. I'm betting that the used gears I have are 
quite a bit smaller than their markings.
