Re: [T3] Horn mechanism repair. What size screw?
I got helicoils from McMaster/Carr, but I apparently got the wrong size tap.
The catalog was no help (I also got the wrong size drill bit).
The helicoils are M3 x 0.5
Unfortunately, the tap is ALSO M3 x 0.5 ($17.90 mistake).
The helicoil package says that a 1/8" drill bit is required.
Assuming the M3 x 0.5 is the right size helicoil, what size tap do I need?
Your guess was right, Jim. The lock washers were missing and the only way
to keep the horn from blaring is (was) to back those screws out a little.
