3 = Type 3, 6 = squareback. There should be a third number that tells other 
stuff, like LHD/RHD and sunroof/no sunroof. The third digit is more lightly 
stamped in that plate.

That's either the net or gross weight in kilograms. There's probably more info 
there that will clarify things. The later years break it down into front and 
rear (hinten) but I don't know if your plate will have those figures on it.

That's the VIN. The early VINs didn't have the same format as the late ones, 
but this is just an early '64. Single or Dual carbs?
