[T3] Is this really happening?
After all these years Im finally starting on the complete recondition of the
71 again! Im going to replace the doors, front fenders, one rear and decklid
as I have some cherry ones to use. Turns out the 71 decklid is identical
but when they switched to the safety latch they no longer welded nuts on
part that holds the old latch... D'oh! So Ill have to mig some on.
Im going to get these body panels ready before taking the car off the road,
as I still need it for a bit. Im using the sunroof and rear decklid off my
old 73 (my first car) so its neat that more bits of it are going to get
reincarnated... and that decklid came off of a car that collapsed on itself
the rust was so bad and replacing a decklid that is rusted thru on a car
that is very solid!
I got the stripper out today and started removing the paint, but that stuff
has been in the can since 1999 and is now black.... and doesn't seem to be
doing much! Isnt it a bummer when your stripper quits right in the middle
of the show?
Im off to autobody this week to get more and some Silver Metallic paint, I
was told once that I needed an agitator to spray that stuff, but now they
say that with an HVLP gravity fed gun you don't. Any experience or thoughts
on this??
