If it was really arcing this would be pretty unusual for any new 
wires. What would be more common would be capacitive coupling thru 
the insulation that would make a kind of glow discharge on the 
surface, which would be move evident near a piece of grounded metal. 
There's nothing special at all about the Bosch wires, but the OE 
Bosch ends allow the wires to be trimmed to exactly the right length, 
which sometimes helps keep the wires away from bad places.

Note also that using large SP gaps will make this corona problem 
worse and can even make the car undriveable in damp weather.
A gap of .028" works just fine.
